What If I See One?
You are sitting alone in the house at night when you hear a slight noise outside, and turning your head you are confronted by a bestial black face more like a gorilla's than anything else, staring in the window at you. It's a horror movie come true, the most terrifying thing you have ever experienced, yet somehow you survive it and after a while the face is gone.
The reason you survived is simple. You were never in any danger in the first place. An animal looked in out of the darkness to see what was inside your lighted room, but it wasn't trying to get in to eat you, and it felt no hostility towards you. It was just curious and for some reason abandoned its usual caution. In reality you were granted a rare privilege, a chance for a close look at one of the most interesting creatures on earth and one that very few people ever see. It's too bad you weren't in shape to appreciate it.

So, what should you do if you encounter a sasquatch? First of all, DO NOT PANIC!! Remaining calm will allow you to analyze and, later, more clearly recall the details of the event. It will also enable you to enjoy the encounter. "Enjoy it??," you say. Absolutely. As Mr. Green points out in his wonderful book, you have the privilege of seeing an animal that science does not acknowledge, and which a relatively small number of people have seen. Be in shape for it, and enjoy the privilege.
During the encounter, note as many details of the sasquatch and your surroundings as possible. As soon as you can, commit your memories to paper. If you are unable to do so at the time, return to the scene and collect any evidence (See Collecting Evidence).
The actual sighting of a sasquatch is a rare event. Most often, one encounters evidence of the presence of a sasquatch, such as footprints, scat, hair samples, broken trees, etc. The points mentioned above are equally applicable to these indirect encounters.
